Glenn Ruthven is an artist living in Austin, TX. Originally from Houston, he spent many afternoons as a child exploring the Houston Zoo with his sketch book and drawing the animals. From this and many other outdoor adventures, he developed a great love and respect for nature.

He studied painting at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, receiving a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Radio/TV/Film. After college, Glenn traveled through Western Europe, Italy and Africa, shooting documentaries for the Church of England. In 1995 he returned to Houston to work for a production company as an editor and CG animator.

In 1999, Glenn and his wife moved to Austin and he began to paint professionally. As a muralist he discovered the appeal of painting on a large scale and as a portrait artist, the joy of conveying the emotions of the subject. He has combined these two ideas in his current work with animals.

When he is not painting, Glenn volunteers with a Search and Rescue Team and can often be found enjoying the outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
